First Responders Breakfast

This week, as a nation, we stop and reflect on the events of September 11, 2001.  We all remember the images, sounds and stories of  that day and the days that followed.  That day changed America. It changed all of us.  One thing we were shown was that there are men and women who will run into the danger to protect those who are running from it.  On that day 414 first responders did what they did everyday.  They went when called, but on this day those 414 did not return home.  414 first responders gave their lives running into the danger to save the lives of others.  Since September 11 thousands have died from health complications stemming from their work at Ground Zero.  These are staggering numbers.  They should make us pause and be thankful.  The truth is,  in our community we are blessed to have men and women who serve as first responders ready and willing to run into the danger.  We pray they are never call on to respond to a tragedy like 9/11 but I am convinced that if called they would without hesitation.
It is just a small token to show our appreciation but we would like to invite all first responders and their families to a free breakfast in their honor.   Details in the image above.

Community Mission Opportunities

Grandview Baptist is excited about two Community Mission Opportunities in the next couple of weeks. We hope you and your family will make plans to join us. It is important that we take the love of Jesus out of the walls of the church building and into our community. Grandview understands that this is one of the main purposes for the church. Together we can make much of Jesus.

Hamburgers at The Harbor

Friday, September 7 at 6:00 pm

We always look forward to the chance to serve with our friends at The Harbor Church in downtown Dothan. The Harbor has a great ministry serving, loving on and reaching many in our community. They often help those with a good meal, clothes, shelter and other needs that may need to be met. On Friday September 7 Grandview will be at The Harbor cooking hamburgers and hot-dogs. These will be free of charge to all those who stop by. This will be gong on in conjunction with Foster Fest, which sees thousands fill the streets of downtown Dothan. The purpose of us doing this is two fold; one, many of those who attend The Harbor and The Harbor has ministered to, will stop by. This way we provide a fun atmosphere to get a good meal and see the love of Jesus on display.  The second purpose is, it will help to expose the ministry of The Harbor Church to many in our community that will be at Foster Fest. Many of them may be able to help or contribute to the ministry at The Harbor Church.
Make your plans to be at The Harbor Church on Friday, September 7 at 6:00 pm. We will have everything we need to cook and serve.  We just need you!  If you have any questions, please see Tommy Starling or call church office.

Saturday Serve

Breakfast for First Responders

Saturday, September 15 7:00 am-11:00 am

Grandview is very grateful for the men and women who serve us and our community as law enforcement, fire fighters, EMT, and other First Responders. In an effort to show that appreciation, and more importantly to show the love of Jesus, we will be cooking and serving them breakfast. We are going to set up at Central Fire Station, 600 Columbia Hwy, Dothan, AL 36301. We need your help!  Please consider joining us on Saturday September 15 to show our First Responders how much we care for them. We will have everything we need, but we can not do this without you. Also please help spread the word to all First Responders you know.
Come to the Central Fire Station on Saturday, September 15 at 7:00 am to serve those who serve us everyday.

From the Pastor

From the Pastor

August 29, 2018

Jesus says in Luke 14:28, “For which one of you, when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it?” Now in this verse Jesus is talking about the cost of being a disciple of His. However, it is also a great literal teaching as well. When it comes to building, it is imperative that the cost is considered before construction ever begins. But, there is even more that must take place before the cost is counted. The process begins with the people of God praying and seeking His guidance.

The long-range planning committee has begun to meet and look at the needs of the church. They have started with seeking God’s leadership through prayer. I would like to ask each of you to join with this committee and pray for God’s wisdom in this process. Jesus also said in Luke 11:9, “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” We have this promise from the Word of God. So let’s all begin to pray and see where God leads us.

Wednesday Nights

Hello Grandview Students and all others who maybe reading this. I want to take just a minute and let you know what will be happening over the next several weeks on Wednesday nights. If you are not coming to our Wednesday gathering I want to encourage you to. We meet each Wednesday at 6pm. We have some wonderful adult volunteers that, at their expense, prepare a great meal for you each week. You will then enjoy a great time of community with other 6-12 graders, laughs, worship and a message from God’s Word. I really hope you will make plans to be with us each week. I want you to check out what will be happening on Wednesdays in the near future with GSM.

Wednesdays August 22&29

We begin a new series called “No Matter What.” The phrase “No Matter What” is an important and powerful phrase. It is a sign of an absolute commitment that does not hinge on any circumstance. This two week series will look at Jesus’ commitment to us “No Matter What.”

Wednesdays September 5,12,19 and October 3

We are here on this planet for a reason. Ultimately it’s to glorify God and make much of Him! We are not an accident nor did life “just happen” for us. The experiences we journey through in life are not wasted and have a purpose to point us to a loving God who desires to be in a relationship with us. During this series we are going to discover the purpose we have on this planet, on our campus, in our homes, and at church. God put us here on purpose, to glorify Him and point others to Him! Let’s discover everything He has for us together.

Over Twenty five years later, millions pray on their campuses on the fourth Wednesday in September.  You will have the opportunity to gather with other students on your campus to pray,  Check with your school for location and time.  After you have prayed on your campus and finished your day at school, we will come together with hundreds of other students from the WIregrass area for the See You At The Pole Rally.  We will leave GBC at 5:30 pm and be back by 8:30 pm.

Men’s Conference

Men’s Conference

First Baptist Church, Woodstock, GA

Cost: $100.00

One of the highlights of the year for our Men’s Ministry is the Johnny Hunt Men’s Conference. Pastor Johnny and the Men of FBC Woodstock do a great job of hosting this event every year. Our Men’s Ministry have been going to this conference now for many years. We will leave early Friday morning January 25 and will be home around supper time on Saturday January 26. The cost includes the conference, lodging, a steak supper and breakfast. Also this year we are going to “play” a little bit at Top Golf.
What is the benefit of going to the Men’s Conference? There are two major benefits. The first is spiritual growth. You are going to be challenged by God’s Word through the preaching of Pastor Johnny Hunt and the speakers at the breakout sessions. The second is community. We need other men in our life to help us on the journey to be a better man, husband, father, son, co-worker, student, etc. We have a great time just riding to Atlanta and spending time together.
If you have questions or want to sign up, email Bro. Allan Fowler.  Please sign up be September 23 to help us secure the best rate on the hotel rooms.
