About

Grandview Baptist Church

The history of Grandview Baptist Church can be traced back for over 122 years.  From its' humble beginnings as the Pleasant Springs Baptist Church in the Newton Springs Community in 1902 to the present is an interesting story. It is a story of a people who wanted a church, and steadfastly set themselves to establishing one.  In that year of origin, there were fourteen members received by baptism and twenty-two received by letter.  From the minutes of the Columbia Baptist Association (now known as SABA), it is revealed that Pleasant Springs Baptist Church moved to Dothan in 1927-28; leaving the Newton Springs Community.  The Church moved to the cocrner of East Collins and Fourth Avenue in Dothan,  In the 1928 Association Minutes, the name is listed as Grandview Baptist Church for the first time. On February 14, 1965 a ground breaking ceremony was held at 1001 East Selma Street and on October 7, 1965 GBC once again had a new home. Many changes came at this location, a new Education Building was built, staff homes were purchased, a steeple was placed on the building in 2001.  Liquidating the church debt and purchasing a new van; To God be the Glory!

Grandview decided in 2005 to once again purchase land and move to our current location.  We moved into our new building in May 2008.   Grandview continues to have a vision for missions as we have participated in mission trips to more than 14 different states to help build and repair churches, conduct Backyard Bible Clubs, and share the Gospel.  We have taken several foreign mission trips to Venezuela, Haiti, Costa Rica. Shining the Light of Jesus!!
